Dane Picard

Dane Picard is an American artist and filmmaker who began making video artworks in the late 1990s. Quickly gaining acclaim for his work, in 1999, he participated in several national and international film festivals, becoming a 1999/2000 Short Film Grant Finalist from Aperture. Picard continued to exhibit work internationally, participate in film festivals around the world, and win awards for his accomplishments with film. He is valued as an educator, having held teaching, resident artist, and guest lecturer positions at schools all over the Southern California region, including the Pasadena Museum of California Art, San Diego State University, California State University at San Bernardino, Claremont Graduate University, California Institute of the Arts, and Long Beach City College. Picard has been featured in several important one- and two-person exhibitions, including Power Grid Plus One, Print Edition and Wall Mural, Baik Art, Culver City, 2016; Choreographed Robot Alpha, Proxy Gallery, Culver City, 2014; Hands Mosaic Project, 4Culture, Seattle, 2013; Selected Works, Los Angeles Valley College Gallery, Valley Glen, 2011; Human Nature, Los Angeles International Airport, Terminal 1 Gate 1, Los Angeles, 2010-2011; and Screen Deaths: Visitations, Project Room, Pasadena Museum of California Art, Pasadena, 2008. In 2010, Picard was the recipient of the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Award.
